Imagine an Apple II emulator package that could interface with a physical backplane with real slots. This hypothetical emulator would be able to simultaneously use virtual and physical cards. Example: you could select whether the emulator uses a virtual Mockingboard in virtual slot 4, or a real Mockinboard in the physical slot 4. This kind of hybrid emulation would allow for using peripheral cards that are not emulated in software.

I want a USB adapter that will interface to a Disk II or any other Apple II drive. In addition, an emulator should have direct read/write access to it.

And those are just the beginning.
